Choose a style for the recipient—not only for the pet
A person who loves warm family stories may prefer a memoir. A fantasy reader might enjoy an original adventure. Someone who affectionately jokes about their pet’s rules may enjoy a humorous guide. Consider what the recipient would genuinely want to read across a full-length book.
For a remembrance gift, check first. A surprise first-person narrative may be welcome to one person and uncomfortable for another. A direct, gentle question is better than assuming.
Check the creative choices carefully
The title, selected cover and opening chapter establish the direction before checkout. Check names, tone, likeness and cover lettering. The finished front cover you select should not silently change when later story details are edited.
